Mind The Gap - a photography exhibition at Gillman Barracks featuring Bright Ong

Mind The Gap is an invitation to sit in the spaces between. In an attemp to bridge past and present, perception and reality, and self and other, nine artists negotiate meaning through the lens. 

To mind the gap is to acknowledge its presence. The show culminates as a collective effort to mend the unequal relationship betwen photographer and subject.

In "street shit", Bright documents the raw and creative spirit of street skateboarding in Singapore. While the recent rise in government support has led to the development of more skate parks, Bright turns his lens toward a core element of skate culture that can't be replicated within these designated spaces.

Street skateboarding is about transforming the urban environment-ledges, stairs, rails-into playground. It's spontaneous, creative, unpredictable. With this project, Bright captures the thrill, ingenuity, and authenticity of skating the streets, preserving a personal a side of skateboarding that remains deeply rooted in its and often culture, even as the scene evolves.
